One of the longest-running produced german movements is the UMF 69, which debuted
1936 as caliber "Hektor" in the Gebrüder Thiel factory and was after WW II transferred to
the VEB Uhren und Maschinenfabrik Ruhla which modernized it a little bit and continued
producing it until 1960.
Its construction is very classic, it is a highly building pile movement with a
pin lever escapement.
The specimen shown here is of type "B", which was produced in the fifties and already misses
the long regulator arm, but still has got the stripe decoration.
The construction is typical for pin lever movements: All gears are below one single plate
and on the dial side, there's a rocking bar winding mechanism.
