Description
In the beginning of then 1950ies, Junghans launched the caliber 98, a form
movement, which was very reliable and rugged due to its construction.
It uses a screwless(!) balance, which is secured by the two large inhouse shock
protections, a pallet lever escapement and jewels on every axle, except the minute
gear.
Additionally, the Junghans J 98 has got an indirectly driven center second hand,
which is beared in a flexibly held ruby.

The movement is constructed in a cost-efficient way and contains a rocking bar
winding mechanism on the dial side.
This movement was so reliably, that was later also available in a selfwinding
version.
