Description

The Junghans J 93S10 with date is one of the latest and last representative of the caliber 93 series, which was the base caliber for mens' watches for many years.

The specimen shown here is from 1962 and is "competely" equipped with 17 jewels (minute wheel is beared on both sides; the escapement wheel got a cap jewel on the movement side), a directly driven center second and a date indication.

The 93S10 was a modern construction, since it already contains minute wheel cock, which allowed (unlike for example the J 93/1) a flat construction although a directly driven center second was used.

The rest of the movement construction is typical for Junghans with the very large two-arm ring balance and the long regulator arm on the balance cock, which helps in adjusting the effective length of the hairspring. The hairspring is fix connected with the balance cock.

Of course, the usual inhouse shock protection with the large cap jewel is used.

The escapement is a conventional pallet lever escapement.

On the dial side, you see the rocking bar winding mechanism - a rather cheap, but here well made construction with an elaborate click mechanism.
